Dr. Maxwell Ayindenaba Dalaba is a trained health economist and a Research Fellow at the Institute of Health Research, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho, Ghana.
Education
Dr. Dalaba obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree (Economics and Geography) from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana; Master of Public Health (Health Economics) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa and a PhD in Public Health (Health Economics) from the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
Work experience
Before joining UHAS, he was a Research Fellow at the Navrongo Health Research Centre (NHRC). He joined the NHRC for his National Service and was subsequently employed as a Research Assistant and rose through the ranks to a Research Fellow. Dr. Dalaba has worked on several research projects in the area of Maternal and Child Health Care, Malaria, Health Care Financing, Universal Health Coverage, Promotion of the Use of Improved Clean Cook stoves and Health Systems.
Science /Research output
With over 16 years’ experience in health research, Dr. Dalaba has mentored a number of young researchers, published over 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals and made several conference presentations. He conducts peer reviews for journals such as PLosOne, BMC Health Services Research, BMC Public Health, BMJ Open, Health Policy and Planning, Health Research Policy and Systems, Lancet Health Global, Global Health Research and Policy, International Journal of Health Policy and Management, EcoHealth and BMC Reproductive health, among others.
Dr. Dalaba’s research interest is broad and covering a number of areas in Public Health including universal health coverage, cost of illness, behavioral science, clean cooking methods, economic evaluation of health care, health systems and training in research methods.
