Dr. Maxwell Ayindenaba Dalaba is a trained health economist and a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Health Research, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho, Ghana.
Education
Dr. Dalaba obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree (Economics and Geography) from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana; Master of Public Health (Health Economics) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa and a PhD in Public Health (Health Economics) from the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
Work experience
Before joining UHAS, he was a Research Fellow at the Navrongo Health Research Centre (NHRC). He joined the NHRC for his National Service and was subsequently employed as a Research Assistant and rose through the ranks to a Research Fellow. Dr. Dalaba has worked on several research projects in the area of Maternal and Child Health Care, Malaria, Health Care Financing, Promotion of the Use of Improved Clean Cook stoves, Health Systems Strengthening research, among others.
Science /Research output
With over 20 years’ experience in health research, Dr. Dalaba has mentored a number of young researchers, published over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals, made several conference presentations and conducts peer reviews for many journals.
Dr. Dalaba’s research interest are in the area of Health Economics such as cost-effectiveness analysis of health care interventions and cost of illness in the area of cardiovascular diseases, maternal and child health, malaria and infectious diseases as well as implementation research.
Currently, he lectures Masters students on Economic Evaluation, Management & Leadership in health care as well as Undergraduate students on Pharmacoeconomics, Research Methods, among others.
