Georgetown collaboration
The Institute continues to partner with the Georgetown University to provide international experience to some of their students. Through the institute they horn their research skills, community engagement skills and carry out both empirical and desk reviews as part of their project work.
It is important to note that the Institute collaborates locally with other schools within the UHAS, the Ho Teaching Hospital, the Ho Regional Health Directorate and some of its district health directorates.
Within the year under review, 2021, the institute hosted two batches of masters students from the Georgetown university. All three masters students who visited from February to April 2021, focused on studies on COVID-19. They used both mixed methods and their study focused on COVID-19 prevention, life experiences among others in the Ho Teaching Hospital, the Municipal Hospital as well as from the community.
From September to November, 2021, two masters students carried out their international experience with the Institute. One focused on prostrate cancer in men and the second worked on oral health care for children between 4 to 12 years old. The students completed data collection successfully and are currently writing their thesis reports.
After a successful year, the Insitute would be hosting two undergraduate students from the Georgetown university from January to March, 2022.
