DR. MUSTAPHA IMMURANA is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Health Research, University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ghana.
Education
Dr. Immurana obtained both his BA and MPhil Economics degrees from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana, and later obtained a PhD in Economics from Mangalore University, India.
Work experience
He worked as a facilitator/resource person on training post-graduate students on how to use statistical software for data analyses at the Institute of Distance Learning (IDL), KNUST. He has also supervised a number of post-graduate students under the Master of Industrial Finance and Investment Programme at IDL, KNUST and also worked as a research assistant in the Department of Economics, KNUST. He was an adjunct /part-time lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (Kumasi-Campus), Ghana Technology University College (Kumasi-Campus) and Christ Apostolic University College, Kumasi-Ghana.
Science /Research output
Dr. Immurana’s broad areas of research are in Health Economics (Health Care Financing, Health Efficiency, Demand for Health, Economic Burden of Illness, Economic Evaluation of Healthcare, among others), Macroeconomics and Health, International Trade and Health, Environmental and Resources Economics, Labour Economics, and Development Economics. He has also researched extensively on demand for child health in Ghana. Additionally, he has a number of publications in international peer-reviewed journals and has provided review assignments for reputable journals such as the African Development Review, International Journal of Finance and Economics, Economies and TAF Preventive Medicine Bulletin.
